The Tuaregs are a nomadic Berber population living in the African Sahara.

For centuries they lived as the true rulers of the desert, practicing farming and trade.

The Tuaregs are also known as “Blue Men”, with reference to their traditional blue veil – the Tagelmust – used as head covering.

The Tuaregs wear a headscarf of a different colour depending on the caste they belong: indigo for the nobles and affluent, black for the common people and white for the servants and slaves.

Indeed, the colour indigo is the dominant theme of this suite and is found in most of the furniture that is also characterized by dense geometric lines that symbolize the harsh desert life of the Tuareg.
